Rio Ocho is a small community made up of 18 coffee-producing families named after the river that runs through the region. This river forms in the foothills of the Obrax mountain, Sierra de los Cuchumatanes. The community guards the extraordinary coffee variation growing in the lush highlands of Guatemala. This coffee bean offers a harmonious blend of rich flavours that will transport you to a world of sensory delight. Join the captivating story behind the scenes.
A story of Guatemalan Excellence & Flavours
Renowned for its ideal growing conditions, Guatemala produces some of the finest coffee beans in the world, and Rio Ocho is no exception. Nestled between majestic mountains and fertile soil, the coffee plantations in Rio Ocho benefit from the perfect combination of altitude, climate, and soil composition, resulting in beans of exceptional quality.
This beautiful coffee is then harvested separately for each lot. The collection and selection of the beans is carried out by the members of each family. The beans then go through a fermentation process where concrete piles and wooden crates are used.
The coffee is then washed with piped water and left to dry naturally in patios and on the terraces of houses, specifically adapted for this drying process, and these areas are circulated to avoid any type of contamination.
With each sip of Rio Ocho, you will be greeted by a symphony of flavours that dance on your palate. Initial notes of the bean reveal honey sweetness, with notes of biscuit, and a subtle black tea finish, leaving a lingering and satisfying aftertaste.
